Supporting
our veterans
As the grandson of two wartime veterans, not only was I raised with a deep appreciation for those who defended our nation at home and abroad but I vow to honor both of my grandfathers’ legacies through ensuring that our veterans are supported through every chapter of their lives.
When it comes to the vibrancy of their lives, our veterans' mental health and healthcare costs must be a top priority. Those who are struggling with emotional depression, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, and other psychological needs must know that their state government will advocate for the physical and financial accessibility of these life-saving services.
Unfortunately, we know that the rates of homelessness and suicide in our veteran community are too high, with one unhoused veteran or death by suicide being unacceptable. Our state has to progressively advocate for additional services to make sure we reverse the upward trend of these statistics because behind them are people.
Commitment: Given that the Prince George’s County Vet Center is located in the 25th Legislative District, it must be a priority of mine to ensure our government is supporting our federal government partners in the operations of this facility. In addition to working with our federal government partners, I plan to proactively streamline state governmental services from our Departments of Health, Human Services, Labor, Commerce, and Veteran Affairs to secure the necessary healthcare, employment, and social services our veterans need to thrive in the State of Maryland.
